Intro
"Hello, World!"
I'm Francis Taylor and this is my website written in Python using Flask and hosted on AWS. One of the first things you do when learning programming & building websites is a "Hello, World" project.
For those that don't know what an Ironman is, it is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by 112 mile bike ride and a finishes off with a 26.2 mile run, yes that's a Marathon!
I've now completed three full distance Ironman races, Ironman UK in 2018 & 2022 and Ironman Wales in September 2024. I've also completed a half distance Ironman Race @ Stafford in 2016.

When not training for an Ironman I like to get out and fish. My main discipline in Course Fishing, but I have recently taken up Fly Fishing too. When I'm not @ Work

I currently work as a dedicated Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at BT, where I specialize in optimizing and maintaining the critical backbone of our operations.
My expertise lies in the intricacies of VMware, Cisco Compute, and Dell Unity Storage, allowing me to contribute significantly to our role as a trusted Private Cloud provider for Voice-related services across EMEA, the US, and APAC regions.
In this dynamic role, I proudly serve a diverse clientele that spans the spectrum of healthcare, global corporate entities including major banks, numerous small businesses, and various government departments. Each day, I leverage my technical prowess to ensure the robustness and reliability of our cloud infrastructure, thereby empowering our clients to drive innovation and meet their operational needs with utmost efficiency and security.

When I'm not at work
The image above is everything I love about fishing.
It's not just about catching fish, it's about being at one with nature and your thoughts! Seeing wonderful sunrises, sunsets and the vast variety of wildlife that live by and in our lakes, rivers & streams does wonders for your mental well-being!.
However, I don't mind catching fish like this 32LB Mirror Carp and my current personal best for a course fish.
